Visible vs Verizon: Prices, Hotspot & Switching Costs

Visible is a good place to start if you want a lower-cost Verizon-network plan and can manage service online. Verizon deserves a closer look if you need store assistance, a particular phone offer or a different hotspot allowance. The right comparison is between specific plans, not “budget Visible” and one expensive Verizon price.

This comparison uses U.S. prices in dollars and official terms checked on November 3, 2026. It compares service costs and published limits, not measured coverage or speed. Verizon Prepaid and home-internet bundles are outside this mobile-plan comparison.

Compare standard prices before applying a promotion

These are service-only starting points for one phone line. Device payments, optional benefits and eligibility discounts can change the bill. Visible includes taxes and fees in these plan prices; Verizon adds taxes and fees.

PlanStandard monthly serviceAnnual payment option
Visible$25$275 upfront
Visible+$35$375 upfront
Visible+ Pro$45$450 upfront
Verizon Simplicity$45 with qualifying AutoPay; $55 withoutMonthly only
Verizon Unlimited Welcome$65 with AutoPay and paper-free billingMonthly service
Verizon Unlimited Plus$80 with AutoPay and paper-free billingMonthly service
Verizon Unlimited Ultimate$95 with AutoPay and paper-free billingMonthly service

Sources: Visible’s monthly and annual plans, Verizon Simplicity pricing and AutoPay rules, and Verizon’s myPlan selector set to one line. The myPlan rates are $10 more per line without the AutoPay discount. Simplicity’s discount requires enrollment within 30 days and an eligible payment method.

Visible’s annual service requires full upfront payment and becomes nonrefundable after activation. Confirm coverage and the renewal quote first.

The myPlan Broadband Facts list a $40 activation fee, while Verizon’s Simplicity page advertises no activation or upgrade fees. Check the charge for your actual plan, plus address-based taxes and surcharges, rather than applying one fee to every Verizon offer.

Current offers can reverse the annual-versus-monthly calculation

Visible’s current HOLIDAYHACK offer terms give new members $6 off monthly service: $19 for Visible for up to 12 months, $29 for Visible+ for up to 36 months, or $39 for Visible+ Pro for up to 60 months. These are monthly payments. Enter the code when joining.

The offer excludes annual plans and requires uninterrupted service. Downgrading ends the discount; upgrading keeps only the original period’s remaining time. Afterward, the then-current regular rate applies. Other service offers cannot stack, except the specified referral credits for existing members. Visible can change or end the promotion. Confirm the terms before joining.

Twelve promotional payments total $228, $348 or $468. Compared with annual service, monthly billing costs $47 less for Visible and $27 less for Visible+ in the first year. Pro’s $450 annual payment is $18 less than twelve $39 payments, but requires prepayment instead of monthly billing with a longer discount. These calculations assume eligibility and continued service.

Verizon currently advertises Simplicity at $30 after AutoPay and a qualifying $15 switch discount. Its Switch & Save requirements call for a current mobile bill and list Visible among eligible brands. Obtain the actual eligibility decision and quote; do not compare Verizon’s conditional $30 with Visible’s standard price as if both were unconditional.

The shared network does not make every plan equivalent

Visible uses Verizon’s network, but the base Visible plan can be slower than other traffic during congestion. Current Visible+ and Visible+ Pro terms include unlimited premium data on 5G and LTE as well as eligible 5G Ultra Wideband access. Do not reuse an old comparison that assigns a fixed 50 GB premium allowance to today’s plans.

There is still a heavy-use policy. Visible’s network-management disclosures say it may reduce a mobile customer’s device speeds to 1.5 Mbps for the rest of the billing month after usage exceeds its heavy-user threshold, currently 450 GB. That threshold is based on the top 0.5% of users over the preceding six months and can change. Premium priority is not a promise of unrestricted full speed at any usage level.

Verizon’s important plan information also distinguishes its tiers. Unlimited Welcome can slow during congestion and has a 500 GB smartphone-data threshold before speeds reduce to up to 4 Mbps. Simplicity has the same published 500 GB threshold. “Unlimited” is not a reason to skip the plan’s limits.

None of those labels establishes which service is faster inside your home or at work. Check coverage and phone compatibility for each service, then try the places you actually use it before committing to an annual payment. A brand name or one speed result from another city is not a local test.

Hotspot speed and hotspot allowance solve different needs

PlanPublished phone-hotspot terms
Visible / Visible+ / Visible+ ProUnlimited data, capped at up to 5 / 10 / 15 Mbps respectively
Verizon Simplicity10 GB, then up to 1 Mbps for the rest of the cycle
Verizon Unlimited WelcomeNo included allowance; hotspot is an optional purchase
Verizon Unlimited Plus30 GB, then up to 3 Mbps on Ultra Wideband or 600 Kbps on 5G/LTE
Verizon Unlimited Ultimate200 GB premium hotspot, then up to 6 Mbps

The Visible caps come from its mobile service disclosures; Verizon’s limits come from its plan information and current myPlan footnotes. “Up to” is a ceiling, not a measured or guaranteed speed. Hotspot use means sharing the phone’s connection, not moving its SIM into an unauthorized router.

For occasional laptop browsing, a steady speed cap may be acceptable. If you frequently send large work files, compare the premium allowance and what happens after it. A hypothetical 40 GB month exceeds Simplicity’s and Unlimited Plus’s listed allowances, but not Ultimate’s. That arithmetic does not establish that any plan can sustain your particular video call.

Price the whole household and the phones you already own

Four standard $25 Visible lines total $100 monthly, with service taxes included. Verizon lists standard four-line Unlimited Welcome pricing at $30 per line with AutoPay, or $120 before taxes and fees, with qualifying account credits able to reduce that. This is not a feature-for-feature match: Welcome does not include the same hotspot arrangement.

Use the full household quote rather than multiplying a one-line advertisement. Include any eligible group savings, the duration of credits, connected watches, paid perks and phone installments. Visible’s service deals cannot automatically be stacked with every group or phone offer.

If you already have a discounted Verizon phone, ask which credits would end and what you would still owe before switching service. Even moving within Verizon can matter: its Simplicity FAQ says discounted device payments lose their discount on migration, and all account lines must move to Simplicity. Our Simplicity-versus-Unlimited-Plus guide covers that separate decision.

Which should you choose?

Start with Visible for a lower-cost service quote when you have a compatible phone and are comfortable with online support. Its plans page says assistance is available through chat rather than stores. Compare Verizon’s local store options if face-to-face help is important enough to affect your choice.

Consider Visible+ or Pro before dismissing Visible for congestion alone. Consider Simplicity before assuming Verizon always starts at $65. For substantial laptop sharing or a phone promotion, compare the exact Verizon tier and complete cost. Neither brand has one plan that represents every customer’s trade-off.

Before transferring your number, check compatibility, remaining phone costs, promotion eligibility and the first bill versus later bills. If you are also comparing other low-cost services on Verizon’s network, our Visible-versus-US-Mobile comparison covers the different network and billing choices. Keep your current service working until the transfer instructions tell you otherwise.
